Yosemite

Join Indievents and Club David, Wednesday, February 24, for the South Dakota Premiere of Yosemite.

Yosemite is an award winning film based on James Franco's short stories "Yosemite" and "Peter Parker" from his collection A California Childhood. James Franco co-stars in a remarkable film which has been compared to a Stand By Me for those who were in the eighties.

Writer/director Gabrielle Demeestere won the Women in Film & Televison Award at the Nashville Film Festival for Yosemite.

It's the fall of 1985. The intertwining tales of three 5th grade friends, Chris, Joe and Ted, unfold in the suburban paradise of Palo Alto, as the threat of a mountain lion looms over the community. Chris drives up to Yosemite for the weekend with his dad and discovers a corpse in the woods. Joe, left to his own devices by his babysitter, befriends a lonely drifter who shares his love of comic books. Meanwhile, a mountain lion is spotted in Palo Alto in broad daylight and Ted searches for his cat, who has gone missing. . .

"A low-key drama whose modesty is its own reward". - Variety

"Performances from the young newcomers are unfailingly naturalistic and affecting. Tender without tipping over into sentimentality, the three portraits capture a time of both fragility and resilience." - Hollywood Reporter

"Beautifully captures the fearful majesty of boyhod. A haunting metaphor for the looming shadow of adolescence... gentle and intimate. . .a melancholic purity which clenches the heart. It's a mature debut that firmly plants the director AS a phenomenal talent to watch." - Twitchfilm

Following the screening, writer/director Gabrielle Demeestere and producer Shruti Ganguly will participate in a live Q and A with the audience via Skype!
